Slettie Jones is a retired Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in geriatric mental health. He has over 35 years of experience in mental health working both as a para-professional and a professional social worker in public, not-for-profit and private sectors. Mr. Jones earned his Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach and has chaired the school’s Field Advisory Committee. He is a lifetime member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Mr. Jones has taught clinical practice as an Associate Professor at the University of Southern California and has been a field instructor for the four schools of social work in the greater Los Angeles area. He ended his 27 year career with the County of Los Angeles, Department of Mental Health in 2010 after having represented the Department as a lecturer on older adult mental health issues nationwide. Mr. Jones has served as a member of the Senior Advisory Commission for the City of Long Beach, providing training and consultation in geriatric assessment to the Senior Police Partners for over 10 years. As Corporate Director of Older Adult Services for Pacific Clinics, he supported five separate mental health programs in four of Los Angeles County’s eight service areas. He is an advocate for older adults and is represented on a number of committees providing direction on older adult legislation and policy. Mr. Jones continues to train and lecture on mental health and aging and provides clinical consultation to many other community agencies.
